Honors Biology is an intensive one-year course taught in accordance with the Next-Generation Science Standards and Common Core State Standards. This honors-level laboratory science course is rigorous and is designed to challenge each student toward university-level preparedness. The topics covered and laboratory exercises are in-depth and involve analysis and research. Students learn complex biological concepts through laboratory work using scientific methodology, lectures and applications, and research. Major themes include scientific method, energy and chemistry of life, cell structure and function, genetics, evolution and ecology.
